What is Spravato?

Spravato is a prescription nasal spray containing esketamine, a derivative of ketamine. It is FDA-approved for two specific indications:

Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD): For adults who have not responded to at least two antidepressants taken at adequate dose and duration. Spravato is used in conjunction with an oral antidepressant.
Major Depressive Disorder with Acute Suicidal Thoughts or Actions: For adults in crisis who require immediate symptom relief. Spravato® is used alongside an oral antidepressant to stabilize mood rapidly.

Who is Spravato For?

Spravato® may be appropriate for adults who meet the following criteria:

Have a diagnosis of TRD and have not improved with at least two antidepressants.

Limitations of Use:

Spravato® is not indicated for use in children.
Hospitalization may still be necessary even if rapid symptom relief is observed.

How Does Spravato Work Differently?
